How I Created Electric Dream Editorial

Creating "Electric Dream"

When I received the assignment to create a neon-themed editorial, I immediately envisioned a palette of vibrant hues—pink, orange, chartreuse, and blue gels. The concept quickly evolved, and I decided to name it Electric Dream, inspired by the idea of blending high-fashion elegance with surreal futurism.

To bring the vision to life, I created a mood board filled with inspirational images and set the tone with a theme: Elegant Dream. This editorial would celebrate luxury couture against a minimalist white backdrop tinted softly in pink, transforming it into a surreal stage. Neon gel lighting was my painterly tool, sculpting each look as if it were a living artwork. The result? A dreamlike atmosphere that seamlessly fused classic elegance with modern edge—simplicity meeting opulence in a dynamic visual story.

Diving into my designer closet, I explored past collections I had created and found the perfect pieces for this shoot. I envisioned bold, magnetic poses that radiated power and energy, complementing the vibrant lighting and textures.

The Day of the Shoot
On the day of the shoot, I steamed all the garments and headed to the studio. I set up a simple white background and used two lights: one with gels pointed at the ceiling to diffuse the neon hues, and a key light to highlight the model. After the model completed her hair and makeup, it was showtime.

We shot four looks, but during the editing process, I decided to cut one dress and its accompanying poses—it just didn’t fit the cohesive story I wanted to tell. To refine my selection, I printed my top 15 photos and carefully laid them out to choose the final six that best embodied the vision of Electric Dream.

Pitching the Editorial
I pitched the top six photos to Selin Magazine, which ultimately published three of them. While I was thrilled with the publication, I still cherish all six images as a complete collection. They represent the vibrant fusion of elegance, futurism, and creativity that defined this editorial project.

Electric Dream remains one of my favorite editorials—a celebration of color, energy, and couture, brought to life with bold lighting and an imaginative approach to storytelling.
